Review of the computer game Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Due to the recent official announcement of Borderlands 3, we decided to draw your attention to the prequel of this famous series. In 2012, Borderlands 2 became a real bestseller for the developer studio and the publisher corporation and sold a total circulation of more than thirteen million copies. At the same time, the sequel received a huge amount of positive feedback from players and high marks from the relevant gaming media, as well as the absolutely deserved proud title of "Co-Op Game of the Year".

After such a great result, fans naturally began to wait for the sequel, but, as often happens, the studio was in no hurry to share details about their future projects. During the period of information vacuum or silence, rumors surfaced here and there on the Internet that developers were working on several unannounced projects. The first details about the novelty surfaced only two years later, when a short two-minute teaser of the future novelty was presented during the E3 2014 exhibition.

Then the announcement split Borderlands fans into two separate camps. One part of the players began to look forward to the release, while the other, on the contrary, began to actively criticize the developers, emphasizing that the project shown was no different from the sequel, leaving comments like: "More of the same, no thanks". What kind of game actually turned out to be, after years of waiting?

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a computer game in the genre of Action role-playing, First-person shooter developed jointly by 2K Australia studios, Gearbox Software and published with the support of the American corporation 2K Games on October fourteenth, 2014 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The owners of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles had to wait a little more than six months for the release, more precisely, on the twenty-fourth of March 2015.

The plot events of the game, as the name immediately implies, chronologically unfold between the finale of the original Borderlands and the beginning of Borderlands 2. At that time, "Handsome Jack" was not yet the head of the Hyperion corporation with a real army of robots, did not wear masks and did not build large-scale criminal plans in his own head. He was a rather modest lower-level programmer named John, to whom the current CEO, Mr. Tassiter, set a simple task to monitor the ecosystem of the planet Pandora.

The long and boring times of sitting at a computer monitor and analyzing indicators eventually yielded results, because after a while, the young programmer came across the trail of another repository. Without hesitation, he sent out ads to certain people with the call: "Come to the moon. Hunt a Vault, be a Hero". Unsurprisingly, the four adventurers quickly responded to his proposal. Among them, there was a place for a famous assassin in this part of the galaxy and at the same time a fan of robotics - Wilhelm with his faithful Dorn Wolf and Saint.

This experienced man was ready to do anything for money, as well as during his long and extremely thorny career as a mercenary, he managed to work for the bosses of more than ten different companies. Athena, a former professional assassin and at the same time commander of the Omega squad of the private corporation Atlas, did not refuse such an exciting offer. John's proposal also did not bypass Nisha Kadam, a kind of lonely lawyer who, for all her time, received a dubious reputation among the inhabitants of Pandora - many called her, quote: "bandit who kills bandits."

The last one who agreed to such an offer without objection due to the established program instructions was the iconic robot dancer - CL4P-TP general purpose robot, better known to every fan of the Borderlands series as the one and only "Claptrap". In the end, having gathered together, the new four hunters went to visit their employer. At the Helios station, they were not waiting for a luxurious red carpet and uncorked champagne bottles, but a whole army of professional renegade fighters under the command of Colonel Tungsteena Zarpedon.

Once upon a time, this elite military group was part of the forces of the Dahl Corporation, but one day the bosses decided to leave their best fighters to fend for themselves along with the commander-in-chief and not spend money to save them. Unsurprisingly, they managed to completely take over the station in a matter of hours, killing hundreds of innocent workers, and then start firing at Pandora's tiny satellite, Elpis, from it. In light of these events, John instructed the newly arrived four to go to the surface of the satellite, find a storage facility, and also find a way to repel an important object of the Hyperion corporation from the hands of uninvited guests.
